Laser hair removal does not work for everyone. Some people may find that it is more successful for them, while others may have to deal with longer and more sessions when they are having hair removed. The reason for this comes down to the color of the hair and the color of the skin.

If you have white skin and dark hair, you are the best candidate for laser hair removal. If you have white skin and light hair, then you may have difficulty getting the right results with your laser hair removal treatment. Now, if you have black/medium skin and dark hair, you can still have your laser hair removal done but it is not going to be as efficient and a special laser needs to be used. The reason for this is because it is hard to target light hair on white skin and dark hair on dark skin.

Many then ask the question, what about gray hair?

Well, the funny thing is that gray hair is kind of a gray area with laser hair removal. If you have white hair, there is no way you can have laser hair removal done, but gray hair is a bit different. If you have light skin, then it can be very hard for the laser to be able to target the hair follicle. The reason for this is because it is hard to see gray on the skin, especially on the arms. Now, if you have dark skin, it is easier to target the hair follicle but the laser is made to target dark hair follicles on the skin, rather than light-colored follicles.

In order to look into whether or not laser hair removal is going to work for you, you need to talk with a laser hair technician. There are lasers out there that may be able to target gray hair better but you also have to think about your skin. The lasers that can target black hair on black skin are of a much higher intensity that the lasers that target black hair on white skin. As a result, using them on white skin would cause problems on the skin. This is why you cannot just use any type of laser to remove gray hair on the skin.

Most likely, the laser hair technician is going to tell you that while you can get laser hair removal done with gray hair, it is not going to yield very good results. In fact, along with people who have blonde hair, gray hair patients are considered the worst candidates for laser hair removal. This means that you will have to look at other methods to remove your hair without a laser, including electrolysis, tweezing, waxing or shaving.
