How To Treat Laser Hair Removal Burns
First of all, laser hair removal is very safe and has been tested thoroughly to ensure that people are not at risk when they have their hair removed by laser. Laser hair removal is even endorsed by the FDA. Of course, there is always a risk of burns because of the high intensity light being used on the skin. Patients with light skin who burn easy are more likely to suffer laser hair removal burns, but if all precautions are taken by the patient and the technician, the risk is incredibly low.
If you do suffer from laser hair removal burns, you can treat them with the following:
- First of all, you want to get a cold and soft cloth on the skin that was burned. One thing you can do is to put ice in a towel and leave it on your skin for about 10 to 15 minutes. After that time, leave the cold compress off for about 20 minutes and then reapply.
- The laser hair removal clinic should have some hydrocortisone cream that you can put on the cream. This will reduce the swelling on the skin.
- Water is very important when you have burned skin. You should drink about 64 ounces of water on a daily basis to hydrate the burned skin.
- Milk is also effective at relieving the pain. Put some milk on a cotton ball and put it on the burn for a few minutes. The healing properties of milk will actually help null the pain.
- One of the best things you can do is to use Aloe Vera, which has phenomenal healing properties to it. Put a jar of Aloe Vera gel in the fridge for half an hour and then put it on the skin. This will soothe the skin, relieve the pan and help the skin heal much faster as well.
- If you suffered a burn, then you should stay out of the sun because the burn will be more at risk for burning from the sun than any other part of your body. If you cannot avoid going outside, then you need to ensure that you have both clothing over the burn, and sun screen on the burn, around SPF-30.
- There is a very small risk that your burn may become infected. If you find the burn is not healing after a few days, then you need to go to the doctor to have some skin treatment done to remove the infection.
This may have scared you into avoiding laser hair removal but it should not. If you take the necessary precautions like no waxing or tanning before the treatment, and you have cooling cream put on your skin during the treatment, then you will not have to worry. The worst that usually happens is redness on the skin that disappears within three hours. Laser hair removal is safe, effective and one of the best ways to remove hair from your body.
