After Laser Hair Removal
After laser hair removal, you will find a variety of things happen to the hair on your skin. Understanding what is happening and how to make the process more successful can make things easier on you and keep you from becoming stressed. Depending on the treatment you get, the length of time you spend under the laser is going to vary. Underarms will only take ten minutes, but removing hair from the back can take as much as an hour. After laser hair removal, you should put Aloe Vera on your skin to help it heal and to soothe it over. This should be done over the next few days to ensure your skin stays healthy.
Roughly two to three weeks after laser hair removal, you will notice that the hair that was treated is beginning to shed off. At this point, many people think the hair is growing back because it seems to be getting longer. In fact, the hair is moving out of the skin and falling out, which accounts for it looking longer. Using a Loofa in the shower and scrubbing in the shower can help speed up the process of shedding hair. After the skin has fallen out, little black dots will appear in the spots where there was hair. These are pepper-spots, and they will disappear as well. Scrub in the shower to get rid of these as well.
After shedding has finished, you will be hair-free for several weeks. This will only last until the hair cycle begins again, in which dormant hair begins to start coming in, even after laser hair removal. Once the hair begins to appear, you need to go in for another treatment to remove it. Typically this is about six weeks after your first treatment. You will need to continue going for treatments until the hair stops coming out, and depending on the area you had treated, the number of sessions can be as low as four and as high as ten.
After laser hair removal, if you do not start shedding hair, you should tell your technician. They may have had the setting too low, so that the hair follicle was not destroyed. After laser hair removal, you should also put ice on any areas that were treated to keep swelling down. Lasers can sometimes cause swelling and irritation on the skin, so it is important to lower the discomfort as much as possible and ice or soothe the skin as much as you can.
Generally after a few days following the laser hair removal session, you will feel a bit irritated on the skin but it is nothing that can compare to what you feel following waxing. In fact, it is very mild and it will pass very quickly. Generally, you will be extremely satisfied with the results of the laser hair removal and you will be preparing for your next trip to the clinic so that you can continue removing that unwanted hair.
